Our idea for the final assessment is to structure our groups’ performance using the audience as a means of dictating what is played and what is seen on screen, essentially putting them in control of the entire performance.
To give our audience and our performers a stimulus, we will have a selection of different videos for which the audience, using a Facebook Messenger group chat, will send different emojis corresponding to each one. The emoji that appears most often will tell us which video to play, and further, what to improvise to.
These videos will be projected onto a screen for the audience to see as well as having Kieran and Kyle with guitars to provide a soundtrack.
The process will begin with us setting up a group chat on Facebook containing all of the audience members. We will then introduce our group before explaining the premise behind the emojis. For example, one of our videos is of a walk through a forest, for which we have assigned emojis such as trees, leaves or flowers. The emoji that appears most often before each of the performances will tell us which video to perform to.
