Plug & Play Set Task 2 – Cut Up

Utilising the cut up technique, choose ONE piece of literature (newspaper/book/blog/article) and create an original song.

I chose to use the chapter ‘Tyrion XIV’ from George R. R. Martin’s ‘A Clash of Kings,’ the second book in the Song of Ice and Fire series. This chapter details Tyrion’s part in the Battle of the Blackwater and seemed like to give forth a lot of material to ‘cut-up’ and arrange into a song.

Lyrics

Verse 1

Dead, eyes, shined passionlessly.

A coal black horse barded all in white.

Green, flames, bouncing off of armour.

The me streamed out of the sally port.

Chorus

Time seemed to blur.

The past and future vanished in the,

Battle fever.

This moment is all that matters now.

Verse 2

Yield, Ser, Knight here is a token.

An iron glove dented heavy with use.

The, black, water still flowed strong,

But the surface was a roil of fire and blood.

Chorus

Time seemed to blur.

The past and future vanished in the,

Battle fever.

This moment is all that matters now.

Bridge

The flaming heart. The stag and lion

A greave, a hand extended.

A slash beneath his mismatched eyes.

A shock, you’re hurt my lord.

Chorus

Time seemed to blur.

The past and future vanished in the,

Battle fever.

This moment is all that matters now.
